How does water fed pole cleaning work?
The water fed pole systems are modular, allowing assembly for the necessary height from robust carbon fibre components. The brush at the upper end of the pole is used to agitate and lift dirt off the glass while the water loosens dirt and debris and provides a pure water rinse-allowing the panes to dry clear.
The water used is critical to the effectiveness of water fed pole window cleaning. Purified water is stored in tanks or filtered from the tap. No detergent is needed. Particulates and dissolved solids are removed by filtration alongside deionisation to ensure no residues or spotting is left on the glass.
No ladders or scaffolding needed, water fed poles provide excellent access for window cleaning where a contractor would be working at height or using a scaffold for access.
This mitigates risk and means window cleaners no longer need ladders or the awkward balance of handling tools while balancing. The telescopic pole and brush can be assembled and raised vertically to the required height.
Regulations direct that work such as window cleaning should be undertaken from ground level as much as possible.
The Health and Safety Executive recommend water fed pole window cleaning as a method of choice for safe working and are keen to see wide adoption of this technique by window cleaners to reduce deaths and injuries.
This remarkable water fed pole system only uses simple filtered water which has been deionised and has had all particulates removed. Windows are washed with water alone. Unlike all other types of contract cleaning, there is no need for complex detergent formulas or regimen.
Both window cleaners and customers are recognising the environmental benefits of this water-based cleaning technique that is entirely soap free.
Harmful detergents are not being washed away into the environment. There is minimal water wastage as water for each job is usually prepared and stored in a tank.
Gutters are an integral part of a property’s roofline, so you must ensure they’re well-maintained. Not only will this help your roof’s water drainage system to remain sound but it can also sustain your roofing for longer too, reducing the need for repairs.
Here are some key facts about how gutter cleaning can help maintain your roof.
While gutters are designed to transport rainwater, that doesn’t mean other items can’t work their way into the system. High winds can carry small stones, debris can fall from your roof, and bird droppings can land in this spot. Leaves, dirt, twigs and moss can also jam tightly into both the gutters and downpipes. This causes several issues, including increased weight in the guttering (which could cause structural damage), more pressure on your fascias (which support roof tiles) and cracks to form if backed-up water freezes. It also creates a plug, stopping water from flowing freely.
One of the reasons gutter maintenance is so essential to your roofing is due to the potential effects of blocked gutters. If there’s debris packed tightly in any part of the structure, including the downpipes, it could force water to become backed up. If water starts to overflow, the water may find a way into your roofing, such as through the fascia's which hold the guttering. Even if some water enters through a small crack or hole, it could result in moisture damage to the roofing timbers, mould growing or even property leaks elsewhere.
Gutters are one of the main methods by which rainwater is carried away from roofing, whether it’s a flat or pitched structure. So, if gutters become clogged, this reduces the effectiveness of the system, so the water will find somewhere else go. If you have a flat roof, it may also cause water pooling on the top, increasing the weight the roofing needs to support. In older flat roofs, this could even bring the roofing to the end of its lifespan if tears or bowing occurs. If you’ve noticed this happening, Call us now.
Those keen to maintain their roof via clearing gutters should do so twice a year. It’s often a good idea to do this before the bad weather hits in Autumn and Winter so that any debris that lands in the system won’t have a significant effect. Equally, any build-up can be cleaned out in the Spring.
Never attempt to clean your gutters yourself unless it’s safe to do so. Removing debris from the downspout is difficult without equipment, so we can do this for you safely and effectively.
Moss on roof tiles can cause multiple problems such as wood rotting and the obstruction of drainage points. Ultimately moss growth on a roof can result in costly repairs, and can also reduce the lifespan of your roof. Removal of moss from roof tiles often requires the services of a professional contractor, but there are also easy things you can do at home to prevent moss from growing on your roof tiles.
Most roofs will experience moss or lichen growth, and small patches of growth are usually not a problem. If the moss growth is allowed to develop further, it can become a problem for the roof for a number of reasons:
High pressure jet washing to clear any drive or decking of oil of weeds, treatment after to ensure best results along with ensuring the best results.
Depending on the blocking this can be a simple solution to stop rain water damaging the building and preventing damp on the property.
